Writing is a major way of communicating thoughts, feelings and information. As a blogger or freelance writer, it works to your benefit to perfect your craft. There are many ways of improving your writing, if you are willing to take the time.

1. Read, read, read: The best way to improve your writing is to read. The more you read, the better writer you will become. When you read different literary works, by different authors, you will experience other styles and writing voices.

2. Use a dictionary: When you do not understand a word, don't skip over it, look it up in a dictionary. If you do this every time you see a word you don't understand, your vocabulary will grown in leaps and bounds.

3. Proof your work: Before publishing your work, make sure that you read it over. If you read it out loud, you can hear how what you have written, sounds like to someone else. If you have trouble proofing your writing, ask someone to proof it for you.

4. Use your own voice: Don't try to imitate someone else's writing style. As you develop in your writing, you will discover your own style. Your own writing style may have the flavor of other authors, but it will be "your" style that comes through.

5. Blog: Blogging is a more casual style of writing and gives you freedom to be yourself. While blogging you will learn to brainstorm for new ideas. As you continue to blog you will grow as a writer.

6. Take a writing course: An online writing course is an excellent way to learn to write better. In these classes, you can submit your work to be critiqued. Honest import is important if you are to improve as a writer.
