Once you have opened MS Access 2007, click on create blank database. Name your database as prompted. Don't worry, you can change this name later if you need to and this doesn't effect the functionality of the database.

Click create. You will be taken to your first table. This is where you tell the database what your categories are. You will want categories for each piece of data you are collecting. For example, you may want categories for last name and one for first name and another for address.

Double click on the add new field heading. This will allow you to name the field. You can then name any other fields that you want in this table. Don't forget to click the windows button and then save as.

There is much more to MS Access. You can run powerful queries off the tables you create and create relationships between tables so data is matched up properly. You can create reports that pull data from tables or queries that you build. The reports will update as you update data to the table. You can also build custom forms that allow users to enter data or access queries and reports.
