How to Create a No Sew Pillow Cover

How to Create a No Sew Pillow Cover thumbnail
A silk scarf can make your room look chic as well as your neckline.

To recover an old pillow or a new, plain pillow form without sewing a stitch, take a rummage through your closet. A bright silk or polyester scarf, whether vintage or new, can add bold color and pattern, as well a silky sheen to your decor. Find and old scarf you never wear, or pick up a few on the cheap at a thrift store or estate sale and put them to good use on your bed or sofa. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • 36-inch-square scarf
  • Standard 16-inch pillow or pillow form

Instructions

    • 1

Place scarf on flat surface, printed side facing down.

    • 2

Place the pillow on the scarf so it forms a diamond shape, the corners of the pillow should be top, bottom, and sides of the scarf, not aligned with the points of the corners of the scarf.

    • 3

Grasp the two opposite sides of the scarf and pull together in the middle of the pillow and tie a knot. Repeat this with the other two corners of the scarf and tie another knot securing it around the first knot.

    • 4

Now you can place the pillow on the sofa with the knotted side facing back. If your scarf is tied over a covered pillow with a color that complements the scarf, you can place the knotted side facing the front, as this can be quite pretty and decorative too.
