How to Style Micro Braid Hair

Micro braids are a hairstyle typically associated with women of African descent or tourists in tropical locations, but anybody can wear them. Micro braid hairstyles tend to weaken the hair, so before you begin styling, apply a deep conditioner to your hair several times, then trim away any split ends with sharp scissors. This will help to prevent breakage.

Instructions

1. Divide a very thin section of your hair--about half an inch wide--into three parts.

2. Cross the left part over the middle part, making the left into the middle part. Cross the right part over the middle part, making it into the new middle part. Continue this all the way down the strands of hair to the end.

3. Add a bead or other adornment to the end of the braid if you so desire.

4. Cross the end of the braid back over the braid, making a loop, then pass the end of the braid back through the loop and pull it tight.

5. Continue braiding. You may choose just to micro braid your bangs, or you could style micro braids over your entire scalp.

Tips & Warnings

• Once hair is micro braided you can style it much the same as un-braided hair, tying it back into a pony tail, braiding the micro braids into one large braid, or holding it back with a headband.
