Step 1
Power on your computer and wait for the operating system to finish loading. Take the DVD out of the lens cleaning kit and evenly apply the cleaning solution onto the disc surface.

Press the "Eject" button on the DVD burner drive and place the disc in the tray. Press the "Eject" button again to close the tray.

Wait for the disc to automatically starts its cleaning process or instead click on "Run the Program" from the list of options that will appear if your computer pops up a window asking what action you want to take. Let the cleaning program run for the amount of time specified in the cleaning kit instructions.

Press the "Eject" button and take the cleaning disc out of the tray. Leave the tray open and then power off the computer completely. Remove all of the cables from the back of the computer case. Pull out any extra peripherals that are connected to the computer such as any USB devices.

Pull the computer out of its current location and set it down on its right side on a flat work surface. Feel along the back edge of the case to find out if the side panel is held on by a thumbscrew, metal latch, or set of case screws.

Twist the thumbscrew to the left until it pops out, pull up on the metal latch, or remove the case screws with a screwdriver. Push down on the side panel and slide it to the left to remove it from the case. Pull the panel completely off and set it aside.

Remove the flat SATA cable from the port on the back of the DVD burner drive. Take off the screws holding the DVD burner to the metal drive bay. Reach around to the front of the computer case and pop off the plastic bezel in front of the drive. Pull the DVD burner out of the drive bay.

Step 8
Spray off the sides of the DVD burner drive with the canned air. Spray inside the open tray and then also inside the drive bay to clean out any built up dirt or other debris. Slide the DVD burner back into the drive bay and re-attach the screws. Plug the SATA cable into the port on the back of the drive.

Step 9
Push the side panel back on the case and screw in the thumbscrew, push down on the metal latch, or re-attach the case screws. Plug the computer back in and power it on. Place a DVD in the drive, close the tray, and attempt to use it again.
