How to Keep a Wool Rug From Shedding
Wool rugs add color, warmth and texture to any room, but they do have a tendency to shed. The size and shape of the rug doesn't have much effect on whether it will shed, but the kind of weave does matter. Hand-knotted, short-napped rugs will shed less than long-fibered ones, and expensive rugs will shed less than very inexpensive ones--but they all throw off little balls of loose fibers. With a little planning and some maintenance, you can keep these stray fibers under control and enjoy the beauty of your wool rug for years. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings
Before you purchase your wool rug, ask the dealer or salesperson about shedding.
It is impossible to keep cats from kneading a wool rug, so cat lovers might want to consider a rug made of synthetic fibers.
