How to Make a Duct Tape Wig
Duct tape is a versatile craft supply. It comes in different colors and widths, making it easy to customize the appearance of your duct tape wig. Before you start shaping the duct tape wig, you should tie your hair back and, if possible, tuck it beneath a shower cap to protect it from both the duct tape and a slip of the scissors. You'll need a friend to help you make this wig. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Lay foot-long strips of duct tape side by side, slightly overlapping, until you've created a 1-by-1-foot solid block of duct tape. Apply another layer of duct tape on top of this, sticky side against the original tape's sticky side, so that you end up with a 1-by-1-foot block of duct tape with no sticky parts showing.
-
2
Have a friend help you hold the duct tape sheet over your head. Fold it down into place like a skull cap. Your friend should trim away any places where the duct tape pinches, doubles or wads up as it's pressed into the skull cap shape, taking care not to trim your hair at the same time.

3
Apply more duct tape to the outside of the sheet to mold it into a final skull cap shape. Keep adding duct tape and trimming away any bunched-up or crinkled spots until you've got a skull cap shape, no sticky surface showing, that fits the shape of your head.
-
4
Select what color duct tape you'd like the hair of your wig to be. Cut strips of duct tape to the desired hair length.
-
5
Split each strip of duct tape into inch-wide or smaller strips. Fold each strip in half lengthwise so there is no sticky side showing.
-
6
Cut small 1/2-by-1/2-inch or smaller tabs of duct tape to hold the "hair" strips in place. Tape the hair strips into place, one at a time, starting from the nape of the neck on the skull cap then working up and forward.
-
7
Bundle the hair strips together into small bunches and secure a bunch at a time, instead of individual strands, if you want to give the appearance of a fuller wig.
