Whether you live in the city or in a rural area, the front of your car can become full of dirt, insects and road debris. Dirty headlights can make it difficult to see other cars and obstacles on the road. A thorough cleaning of the front of your car will eliminate dirt and can even keep your car from rusting.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large car-cleaning sponge
  • Liquid car-cleaning soap
  • Soft towel
  • Warm water
  • Baking soda
  1. Step 1

Purchase liquid car cleaning soap and a car cleaning sponge from an auto supply store. Avoid using dish-washing soap or soap that isn't designed for use on cars. Doing so could damage you car's paint or wax job or cause unsightly streaks.

  2. Step 2

Apply the cleaner to the front of your car using a car cleaning sponge or a soft cloth. Avoid using a sponge that is too abrasive. Dip the sponge in warm water and gently scrub the front of your car using a circular motion. You may need extra soap to remove dead bugs or caked-on mud. Avoid scrubbing too hard or you could damage the front of your car.

  3. Step 3

Use warm water to rinse the liquid cleaner off the front of your car. Inspect the car to see that it's clean. If the front of your car still isn't clean, repeat Step 2 until satisfied.

  4. Step 4

Gently dry the front of your car with a clean towel. Do not dry too hard, or you could scratch your car's paint.

  5. Step 5

Clean your headlights. Mix one cup of baking soda with one cup of water. Apply the mixture to your headlights and gently scrub the lights with a sponge. Rinse headlights with warm water. Wipe it dry with a towel.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you aren't able to clean the front of your car yourself, consider taking your car to a car wash facility. Give your car extra shine by waxing it after washing and drying it. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for washing and waxing your car.
  • Always be careful about scratching your car's paint.
