How to Draw Gold Sonic Anime

Sonic the Hedgehog can transform himself into Gold Sonic, or Super Sonic as it is sometimes called by collecting various items in the game. When Sonic is in the state, he is incredibly fast and nearly invincible. Drawing an anime version of this aspect of Sonic is interesting because of the pose and dynamic color scheme. The best way to draw an illustration like this is to break Sonic down into geometric shapes that are easy to draw. Place these together like pieces of a puzzle and then you can place additional details on this frame.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• Paper
• Pencil
• Black ink pen
• Eraser
• Marker in yellow, orange and red
• White colored pencil

1. 

   Draw Gold Sonic's head with a large circle in the center of the page. Add the body with a long thin oval just below the head. Create the arms and legs with diagonal lines coming off the body. The arms should come off the upper left and right side of the oval and the legs should come off the bottom right and left sides. Add the hands with small circles at the end of the arms. Add the feet with long triangles at the bottom of the legs. Place a square just above the arms and feet for the gloves and socks.

2. 

   Add the ears with two triangles on the upper right and left side of the head. Add the guideline for the hair with a large triangular shape starting at the base of the head and continuing around and above the head. Draw a horizontal line across the face. Add a small circle in the center of the face for the nose. Draw sideways "B" shape for the eye mask of Gold Sonic.

3. 

   Draw the eyes with two small ovals inside the center of the eye mask. Separate the hair into five curved triangular shapes that resemble flames. Add an oval in the center of the chest. Make the legs and arms thicker with parallel lines around the outside of the arm and leg guidelines. Add the tail with a curved triangle coming off the right-hand side of the bottom section of the body.

4. 

   Erase any overlapping guidelines that you no longer need. Ink the entire illustration. Let the ink dry and carefully rub away the pencil lines with an eraser. Darken in the nose and eyes.

5. 

   Color the body of Gold Sonic yellow. Add orange to the left-hand side of each triangular piece of hair. Add orange under the arms, legs and the chest oval. Color the irises red as well as the shoes. Using a white colored pencil add small highlights to the upper right-hand side of each shape. Apply this to the hair, shoulders, face, ears, body and legs.

Tips & Warnings

• Make a photocopy of your illustration in Step 4. This way you can color the image without worrying about ruining the original drawing.
• Let the marker dry before you add colored pencil highlights. This will prevent the illustration from smudging or tearing.
