Things You'll Need:
- Colander
- Paper towels
- Kitchen shears
- Small plastic bags
-
Step 1
Clean the parsley to remove dirt and pesticides. Run the parsley under a gentle stream of water to remove any dirt and pesticides. If you have several bunches of parsley, place them in a colander and toss to rinse as the water runs over the parsley.
-
Step 2
Dry thoroughly. Lay bunches of parsley out on paper towels and roll into a cylinder. Squeeze the paper towels to remove any excess water from the parsley. Unroll the paper towels and use dry ones to finish drying the parsley.
-
Step 3
Chop parsley as normal. Parsley will be easier to chop before it goes into the freezer. To make the process even easier, use a pair of kitchen shears.
-
Step 4
Place parsley in small plastic bags. Snack-sized plastic bags are perfect for this application. Place 1 to 2 tbsp. in each bag so that it's already measured and ready to go when you need it.
-
Step 5
Put parsley in the freezer. It's best to avoid deep freezers when freezing herbs so that they don't become covered in ice. Instead, place the parsley in your refrigerator's freezer.
-
Step 6
Remove as needed. When parsley is needed for a recipe, remove the amount needed from the freezer and add to your recipe. If the parsley is going into a hot dish, you don't even have to thaw it.
