Instructions

  1. How to Put Ringtones on a Sidekick 3

    • 1

Pick a song from your computer you would like to use as a ringtone. Select a section of the song that is 30 seconds or less to use as your ringtone. Write down the starting and ending time of your clip.

    • 2

Import a copy of your song into your computer's media player.
Highlight the song and click Edit > Preferences > Import Settings.
In Import Settings, change the import option to "Import as AAC." This creates a copy of your song in Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) format, which is a format used on cell phones for ringtones. The copy will be found in your library next to the original song.

Edit your song to the 30-second clip you would like to use. Right-click the song in your library and select "Get Info." From here, select "Options" and change the Starting Time and Ending Time fields to the times you selected earlier by typing them in as 0:04 and 0:30, for example. The clip will now be stored in your music folder on your computer as normal.

    • 4

Upload the song to a ringtone-hosting site. Two sites that provide this service are wappal.com and supload.com (see links in Resources). Once on the homepage of one of these sites, click "Browse." This takes you to the folders on your computer. Find your music folder and the clip you made previously, select it, and press "OK." The Browse tab will now give you the option to Upload. Click "Upload." The song will start uploading and may take around 30 seconds.

    • 5

Copy the URL of the Download link that will be provided, once your song is downloaded.

    • 6

Enter the URL of the Download into your phone's Internet browser. This opens a page to download your clip. Click "Download" and save the clip in your ringtones folder. The song will now be saved on your phone.

    • 7

Find the clip on your phone and assign it as a ringtone.
