Snoring disrupts the sleep of the snorer and those in hearing distance. If you have a severe snoring problem, you should discuss it with your physician. If your snoring is mild but bothersome, you may want to try a chin strap.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • chin strap
  1. Step 1

Purchase a chin strap designed to help with snoring. These lightweight chin straps are available at drugstores and some discount stores. Because they are adjustable, one size fits most.

  2. Step 2

Position the chin strap securely around your face at bedtime. The chin strap will hold your mouth shut. This prevents you from breathing through your mouth and forces you to breathe through your nose. Mouth breathing is a typical cause of snoring.

  3. Step 3

Wear the chin strap to bed. Sleep on your side or stomach. People who sleep on their backs are more likely to snore.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear the chin strap to bed a few times to get used to it and see if it helps. If, after trying it several times, you are still snoring , you may want to consult your doctor or try another method.
  • Keep in mind that for hygiene reasons, chin straps are usually not returnable.
