The BO Heap Virus is a virus that you will usually get when you open an infected compressed file, most often in .rar format. You can avoid getting infected by this virus by keeping and maintaining an active virus scan program on your computer. However, this virus is also removed relatively easily by an anti-virus program, but be sure that you have the latest version of any anti-virus program, as these viruses tend to get modified and spread quickly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download and install the AVG anti-virus software from the AVG website (listed in the Resources section below).

  2. Step 2

Complete the AVG full computer scan. When you download and install the software (from Step 1), the last step it will take is to attempt a full scan of your computer. Let that scan complete before you continue. This scan may take a very long time, especially on large or older computers. Do not interrupt the scan before it is complete.

  3. Step 3

Read the summary screen. When the scan completes, the screen will tell you what it scanned and what the software found. If it found the BO Heap virus, it will indicate where the virus was found and how many times it was found.

  4. Step 4

Click on the "Remove All Unhealed Infections" link on the screen. This will ensure that the anti-virus program will remove all the files and infections that it found during the scan. Sometimes the program can repair damages from viruses, but sometimes it can only delete the places where the virus was found.

  5. Step 5

Leave the AVG anti-virus program running. If this program was running before you had opened the file that caused your computer to become infected, you would not get infected. Leave the program running so that you will not get infected from this virus again.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always use an anti-virus program on all your computers.
