1
Get into the car and adjust the seats according to your stature. You must be able to comfortably access the brake and gas pedals, as well as have a clear view over the dashboard.
-
2
Roll down your windows and adjust your side view mirrors, then adjust the rear view mirror. You want the side view mirrors to adequately display what is immediately beside you and behind you.
-
-
3
Buckle your seat belt.
-
4
Double check to see if the car is in park. You will know it is in park, when the gear shift is pushed as far upward as it can go and the "P" symbol is lit up. If it's not in park, push in the break and pull the shift up to park.
-
5
Insert the key into the ignition, which is found in the steering column of the car.
-
6
Turn the key in a clockwise direction until the car begins to start and then release it, while very gently tapping on the gas pedal. The car should ease forward, not lunge. Let the car warm up if it is an older model.

Tips & Warnings
Safety is important, so always buckle up your safety belt before starting the car.
While the car is running, do not try to turn the key in the ignition any more. Doing so will grind gears. Never try to shift gears in a car with automatic transmission or it will destroy the transmission.
