How to Remove a Spyware Worm

Spyware is a very common but very damaging type of computer virus. It does not matter if you do everything right and have the best virus protection, spyware is something that is very easy to contract. Simple everyday activities like opening an e-mail or visiting a specific website can infect your computer with spyware. When you first find that you have been infected with spyware, you have to act fast so that none of your personal information is seen.

1. Turn off your computer immediately and restart it using safe mode. To do this, press F8 as soon as your computer turns on and begins to load.

2. From your computer's desktop, click the start windows button and slide your mouse up so that All Programs is highlighted and a menu of options opens up.

3. Scroll through the list of options and highlight Accessories, then System Tools, and double-click on System Restore from the final menu.

4. Identify that the "Restore to a Previous Date" box is checked, and press Next. From the calendar, select a day prior to your computer becoming infected with the spyware worm and click Next. Select a date well in the past when you know your computer was running perfectly to make sure that restoring your computer to a previous date will eliminate the spyware worm.

5. Restart your computer and the spyware worm will be removed.

Tips & Warnings

• If after restoring your computer to a previous date your computer is still infected by spyware, repeat the steps and restore your computer to an even earlier date. The system restore program allows you to make a selection months prior to the current date without losing any of your saved files.
