Draw a LEGO Yoda

Yoda is an extremely popular character in the Star Wars franchise. He has appeared in the "Star Wars" movies, video games, comic books and even toys. The Lego version of Yoda is popular in part due to the unique head on the Yoda toy. While other Lego Star Wars characters have their faces painted onto the standard yellow plastic cylinder, Yoda has his own sculpted green plastic head. Drawing the Lego version of Yoda is fairly easy once you break the illustration down into basic shapes and guidelines. These can be erased later after you add details on the frame.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw Yoda's head with an oval shape. Attach two triangles to the side of his head for ears. Draw the body with a rectangular shape. The bottom of this shape should be wider than the top. Add two thinner rectangles directly underneath this shape for the legs. Create the arms with lines coming off the top left and right corners of the body. Add the hands with downward-facing "C" shapes.

    • 2

Draw Yoda's eyes with two small dots inside the head. Add the nostrils with two smaller dots just below the eyes. Add the mouth with a horizontal line under the nostrils. Add the chin with a "U" shape at the bottom of the head.

    • 3

Create the clothing with a "U" shape under the head for the color. Draw the belt with two parallel horizontal lines running across the body. Add the pouches with two small rectangles attached to the belt. Place a small upside-down triangle inside the top section of each of these pouches to create the flap. Thicken the arms by drawing rectangular shapes around the guidelines.

    • 4

Add wrinkles to the face with curved lines around the eyes, nostrils and mouth. Erase any overlapping lines that you do not wish to keep. Ink the entire illustration of Yoda. Let the ink dry and erase the pencil lines.

    • 5

Color the picture with markers. Color the head light green, the body tan and the inner shirt, belt and pouches brown. Add forest green to the inside of the ears, under the chin and around the eyes for shadows.

Tips & Warnings

  • The arms, torso, hands and legs of the illustration can be used for any Lego character. Make photocopies and try mixing and matching your Lego illustrations.

  • Be sure to let the ink dry before you erase the pencil or the picture will smudge.
