How to Change an Air Filter WRX

The Suburu WRX has been the choice of car enthusiasts because of it's speed and legendary handling. Like any other vehicle, the performance and fuel efficiency rely on clean filters and fuel injectors. Dirty air filters are often the first to rob the WRX of it's zip. Changing the air filter of a WRX takes a little more than other cars, but it can be done in minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the Air filter. For a WRX, the filter is inside the air intake housing located on the left side under the hood.

    • 2

Open the air intake housing by releasing the two clamps on the top. The clamps are silver in color against a black of the intake compartment. The air filter will be visible once the compartment is opened.

    • 3

Disconnect the filter from the air intake hose by loosening the clamp holding the filter in place. A slight twisting of the filter will release it.

    • 4

Replace the filter with a properly fitting, new filter.

    • 5

Reconnect the clamp holding the new filter in place.

    • 6

Close the air intake housing compartment. Reattach the two clamps.
