1
Check your "Recycle Bin". When a file is deleted, it usually goes right into this folder. If the file is in there, you can restore the item and get it back right away. If it isn't there, then you need to use a recovery program such as those found at the Free Downloads Center.

2
Visit the Downloads 3000 site and download the DISKKeeper 1.0 program. This program automatically searches for deleted files on your computer with just the click of a button. Select the download feature and press run when asked. This downloads the program onto your computer.

Run the DISKKeeper 1.0 program by double clicking on the icon located on your computer screen. The program will ask you for information about the type of file you're looking for and you need to add as much information as possible.
-
4
Scan your computer to search for the file by selecting enter. The program then looks through all the files on your computer to find the deleted item. It searches public and private folders on the off chance that you might have accidentally moved it to a different location.
-
5
Preview the files that the program finds until you located the missing or deleted file. The program will then give you the option of restoring it and let you select the exact location where it will be placed.

Tips & Warnings
Type the file name exactly as you saved it. This helps the program locate the exact file and not dozens of other files with a similar name.
Do a search as soon as possible after the file's deleted. If your computer permanently deletes files every day, there's no way to recover the missing data after that time period passes.
