How to Order Classroom Supplies
Every school year teachers need supplies for their classrooms. Students will bring some needed supplies with them, but often teachers provide the bulk of the classroom supplies. Most school districts help teachers to purchase school supplies and each school district will have procedures for requisitioning school supplies.

1
Determine how much money the school district will allow you to spend on school supplies. This varies greatly from one place to another.
-
2
Decide what you need most. If you are a new teacher, ask veteran teachers for suggestions about what you will need for your classroom. Then, browse some school supply catalogs or online sites. Some good places to look are Lakeshore School Supplies, ABC School Supplies and Office Depot.

3
Fill out an order form for the company you are getting your supplies from and also fill out a school district requisition form. In some cases, you might be required to write a letter explaining why you need the requested supplies.
-
4
Submit the order form and requisition to the appropriate person who handles such matters. Most likely, the forms will first be submitted to the school principal for approval and then forwarded to the school district's accountant.
-
5
Wait patiently for your order. It might take several weeks or even a month to get supplies. Often the supplies are shipped to the school's central receiving area and then disbursed to the schools, which adds to the shipping time.
