How to Make a Bean Bag Toss Board
Making a bean bag toss board is a fun and easy project that children as young as 4 can participate in. The project can be time consuming, which makes it a great craft for a rainy day. You can use virtually any large piece of cardboard--and even a large box--to construct the board.
Things You'll Need
- Cardboard
- Utility knife or scissors
- Permanent marker
- Markers, crayons, paints, glitter
- Bean bags
Instructions

1
Set a bean bag on the cardboard and draw a rough outline around it. The outline should be about ½ inch bigger than the bean bag. Draw outlines on random spots over the entire board, leaving about 6 to 8 inches between each space.
-
2
Draw shapes around the outer edges of the outlines. Make the shapes at least 1 inch larger than the outlines. Include triangles, circles, stars, kites and squares.
-
-
3
Cut the shapes out with a utility knife or sturdy scissors.
-
4
Outline each cut-out area with a permanent marker. Have the children color the areas between the holes with markers, paints or crayons. Allow the kids to add additional decorations to the toss board, if desired.
-
5
Allow decorations and embellishments on the board to dry completely. Give each hole a score, based on how hard it is to toss a bean bag through.

Tips & Warnings
When playing, have older children stand further back from the board than the little ones. Entice younger kids to throw the bean bags through "the blue hole" or "the red circle." The bean bag toss board stores easily under a bed.
