If you want to play online with your Nintendo DS but don't have a wireless router, you may use the Nintendo USB wi-fi connector to connect your DS to the Internet. These USB wi-fi connectors are very easy to use, and once you get your computer set up with them, you will be able to play online-enabled games like Mario Kart DS and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles in no time.

From Quick Guide: Wi-Fi for Beginners
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Plug the Nintendo Wi-Fi adapter into a USB port on your Internet-enabled computer and insert the software CD that came with your adapter. A window will pop up telling you that the adapter must be installed to continue. Click the "OK" button.

  2. Step 2

Go through the installation process by answering various prompts and then installing the adapter's management utility to your computer's hard drive. Once it is finished installing, open the utility by clicking on its icon on the desktop.

  3. Step 3

Register your Nintendo DS . The adapter's management utility will ask for your Nintendo DS serial number before initializing. This number is found on the underside of your DS. Note: To confirm your registration, the installer will need to access the Internet, so make sure you are connected before completing this step.

  4. Step 4

Insert the game you want to play online into your Nintendo DS game slot and then power it on. Then access the Internet connectivity settings via the options menu. Click on the "Connect via Nintendo WFC" option. The DS will detect your USB adapter automatically and adjust your DS settings accordingly. Then save your connection settings by pressing "A" and then exiting the utility. You will now be able to play online whenever your computer is connected to the Internet.

Tips & Warnings
  • The DS Wi-Fi adapter is no longer manufactured by Nintendo.
