Instructions

    • 1

Decide the type of steak you want to use. You can fry just about any kind of steak, from sirloin steak to minute steak. Gt steak that is about 3/4 inch thick for best results.

    • 2

Bring the steaks to room temperature by taking them out of the refrigerator 20 or 30 minutes before cooking them.

    • 3

Tenderize the steak if it's a tougher cut of meat by pounding the steak on both sides or by scoring the surface of the steak with a knife.

    • 4

Peel the onion and the garlic, then cut them and the bell pepper into strips.

    • 5

Open the can of sliced mushrooms and drain the water off them.

    • 6

Put 4 or 5 tbsp. of butter in a large skillet and melt over medium heat. If your steak is a tougher cut, add a little water to the melted butter.

    • 7

Add the cut vegetables to the skillet, and cook them on medium-high heat until they are tender, no more than five minutes. Stir or toss to keep them from sticking to the skillet and burning.

    • 8

Rub black pepper, salt and garlic powder on both sides of your steaks.

    • 9

Keep the heat at medium-high and add more butter if needed. Place the steaks in the skillet either on top of the cooked vegetables or spoon them on top of the steak. Cook five minutes on each side for well-done; for less-done steaks, take a minute off of the cooking time.
