Things You'll Need:
- Fabric
- Measuring tape
- Pencil
- Thread
- Sewing machine
- Closures such as buttons or snaps (optional)

Step 1
Measure the teddy bear. As with all design, you must first measure your subject. Measure from the teddy bear's neck down to the end of the torso and around the waist. Write these measurements down as a reference for future projects.
-
Step 2
Create a pattern. Lay out your fabric on a flat surface and create a pattern by applying the measurements to the material. With a pencil, softly mark the material, starting with the measurement taken from the neck to the end of the torso. Measure across and mark the spots for the measurement taken around the teddy bear's waist.
-
Step 3
Cut out your pattern and hem. Cut out your pattern by "connecting the dots" you have marked on the fabric. You can also draw a complete outline with a pencil if it is easier for you to follow. After this, hem the garment with a sewing machine to create even, finished edges. For someone with intermediate to advanced sewing skills, this can be done by hand.
-
Step 4
Add closures (optional). Adding closures makes it easier to dress and undress the teddy bear, so opting to add them is a great idea. Use buttons or snaps and sew them down the center of the garment at the top, center, and bottom. Snaps should be applied with a sewing machine to ensure their durability.

Step 5
Add trim to your teddy bear clothes. Use contrasting fabric or trims like lace or ric-rac to add a spin to your teddy bear's clothes. Apply trim at the edges and hem of the garment for an added personal touch.
