Things You'll Need:
- Jewelry
- Display racks
-
Step 1
Determine pricing for your jewelry. Ensure that your costs for materials and labor are covered. If this is your only source of income, consider how much money you need to earn to cover rent, medical insurance and cost of living.
-
Step 2
Research stores in your area that may sell your jewelry. Start small, with local boutiques. Visit stores that you know, and find additional shops in the phone book or online.
-
Step 3
Contact stores that are a good fit for your jewelry. Visit in person or call and ask to speak to the owner. Schedule an appointment to meet with the owner and show her your jewelry.
-
Step 4
Present your jewelry to the owner. Emphasize why consumers will be drawn to your jewelry, and how it's suitable for the store. Give the owner a copy of your price list.
-
Step 5
If the owner will not buy your jewelry outright, ask if you can sell on consignment. You will need to pay the owner a portion of the profits. This offers the store owner a risk-free alternative.
-
Step 6
Check in with all stores selling your jewelry once a week to restock inventory.
-
Step 7
After you have established consistent business with boutique stores, repeat the process with larger chain stores, citing your success with the boutiques.
