1. Replacing old spark plugs with NGK spark plugs can increase the gas mileage about 3mpg. Increasing the gap in the spark plugs by 20% can add another 5-10mpg.

2. Install a cold air intake on your Civic to increase both performance and gas mileage. A cold air intake forces cold air into the engine, increasing the fuel efficiency and performance of the engine. Remember to clean the air filter at least once every year to keep the air flow at full capacity.

3. Use a full synthetic motor oil in the engine instead of a regular or mixed oil. Using full synthetic oil in your engine can increase the gas mileage by around 10% . Keep the engine oil changed at least every 3500 miles and always use a new filter each oil change.
