Things You'll Need:
- Slate tiles Wet tile saw
-
Step 1
Place the tile saw on a stand, table or another flat surface. Fill the water reservoir with water. Plug the tile saw into a power supply and turn the saw on to test functionality.
-
Step 2
Practice cutting a scrap piece of slate tile a few times before cutting a slate tile that will be used for your project. It is a good idea to become familiar with the way a tile saw works and feels when cutting slate before cutting a tile you will use.
-
Step 3
Measure and mark the tile, and place the tile onto the cutting table. Line the diamond blade up with the mark on the tile. Put on a pair of safety glasses and ear protection. Turn the saw on.
-
Step 4
Move the cutting table toward the diamond blade. When the blade makes contact with the slate tile, move the tile slowly, allowing the blade to do the work.
-
Step 5
After completing your cuts, turn the saw off and allow the blade to stop spinning before leaving the saw. If you will be away from the saw for a long time, unplug the saw to reduce the possibility of unauthorized use.
