Look for stains, yellowing or dull spots on the carpet.

Treat any stains with the carpet prep by brushing it into the carpet. Allow to sit for at least 10 minutes before applying dry carpet cleaner. Apply the dry carpet cleaner to the stained areas only, then vacuum.
