1
Fill out the first section of Form 1040EZ with your name, address and Social Security number. If the IRS sent you the form, use the printed name and address label supplied with the instruction booklet. Cross out any incorrect information and replace it with accurate information. Indicate whether you want to contribute $3 to Presidential election campaigns.

2
Enter your wages, salaries and tips, and those of your spouse if filing jointly, on line 1 of Form 1040EZ. Include income from box 1 of Form W-2 and any other earned income even if you did not receive a Form W-2. Add unreported tip income and scholarship funds you received that you did not use for tuition.

3
Insert your taxable interest on line 2 of Form 1040EZ. Usually you will receive Form 1099-INT or Form 1099-OID indicating how much interest you earned for the tax year. If you cashed in a savings bond and used the funds for education, the interest may be tax-exempt.

4
Include any unemployment compensation you received during the tax year. Find your total unemployment income in box 1 of Form 1099G. Enter that amount on line 3 of Form 1040EZ.
-
5
Enter the total of lines 1, 2 and 3 on line 4 of Form 1040EZ. This is your adjusted gross income. Subtract $9,350, $18,700 if married filing jointly, from your adjusted gross income, and place the result on line 6 of Form 1040EZ. This is your taxable income.
-
6
Account for the taxes you paid, credits for which you qualify and rebates you may claim. On line 7 of 1040EZ, indicate how much income tax you paid. On line 8, enter any earned income credit, EIC, for which you qualify. On line 9, if you qualify, enter the amount you may claim in recovery rebate credit.
-
7
Add lines 7 through 9 on Form 1040EZ to determine your total payments and enter that figure on line 10. Use the amount on line 6 and the tax tables supplied in your instruction booklet to find your tax liability. Enter your tax on line 11 of Form 1040EZ. If line 10 is greater than line 11, you will receive a refund. If line 11 is larger than line 10, you must pay the IRS the difference between the two lines.
