Park your Yamaha motorcycle on a level surface. Position the bucket under the base of the engine.

  2. Step 2

Unscrew the oil drain plug nut (with the proper sized wrench) directly under the motorcycle engine block. Allow all the oil to drain out into the bucket. Unscrew the oil filter from the left side of the engine with your hand. Screw the drain plug back into the base of the engine block until it is tight with a wrench.

  3. Step 3

Pour a splash of new oil into the new Yamaha oil filter. Wipe some oil around the rim of the filter too. Screw the Yamaha oil filter back on with your hand until it is tight.

  5. Step 5

Remove the oil dipstick and add the correct amount of oil as specified in your Yamaha motorcycle owner's manual. Usually 2 to 3 qts. of oil is sufficient.
