How to change the belt on a Bissell 6100 vacuum cleaner

1. Press foot petal to release and lower the handle to the floor.

2. Turn vacuum over to expose the rotating brush access plate and remove brush from the unit.

3. Remove old belt and whatever debris might be in the vacuum.

4. Install the new belt around the silver motor pulley, then place the other end of the belt around the rounded area on the brush.

5. Put the brush back into the unit by installing the brush at the furthest area from the belt first. Then place the other end of the belt back into place, nearest the belt.

6. Spin brush with fingers until the belt centers itself on the rounded area of the brush. Check to see if the belt spins freely.

7. Replace access plate and screws.
