How to Decorate a Girl's Room in a Garden Theme
Decorating your little girl's room in a garden theme can include a mural filled with flowers, butterflies and hummingbirds. Painting a mural is simple with the right equipment even if you don't have an artistic bone in your body. Trace the designs onto the wall and fill them in with paint by using a projector or ready-made templates. Hang a swing from the branch of a large tree on one wall and paint a pond filled with lily pads on another. Your little girl will love her garden-theme room almost as much as you'll enjoy creating it. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Tape the walls to protect all of the trim around the doors, windows and molding. Measure up 3 feet from the baseboard on one wall and tape a relaxed wavy line along the length of the wall. This will become your pond, so your line should not have too much up and down, just a few gentle curves. Measure up another 2 1/2 feet from the pond line and tape a line all the way around the room to indicate the horizon. Again, the line should not be straight--mimic a few hills and slopes as any landscape would have.

2
Trace the outline of a large tree with a swing hanging from a thick branch on the wall opposite the pond. You can find ready-made templates at your local craft store for the smaller animals and flowers in your garden, but drawing the tree and the swing is easier if you project them onto the wall and trace the outline. You can find pictures to project in your daughter's coloring books, favorite story books or online.

Paint the pond area with the darker blue for the water. Paint the middle section of the pond wall and the area below the horizon on the other walls green. Do not paint in the outline of the tree or the swing. Paint the top section of your garden room sky blue.

4
Paint the tree brown and the swing white. Remove the tape from the walls and fill in the tape lines with blue or green as appropriate. Project flowers, hummingbirds, butterflies, frogs, lily pads and whatever else you would like to decorate the garden onto the wall and trace the outlines. You can also tape templates and trace them. Randomly place the flowers along the horizon and within the green of your garden. Paint leaves on the tree and a bird or two on the tree's branches.

Make a headboard for your little girl's bed with a section of picket fencing you can find at your local home improvement store. Attach the fencing into the studs of the wall with screws.
