In the summer children love to cool down with an ice cold snow cone. These snow cones are made by grinding up ice in to tiny bits. During the winter months, children get a chance to make a real snow cone with fresh snow from their backyard. They don't even have to do all the work of crushing up the ice. They just get a scoop and go outside to collect the snow. They can then make a tasty syrup to poor over top of the snow cone. Does this Spark an idea?

Things You'll Need

  • Snow
  • Ice cream scooper
  • Kool-Aid
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Spoon
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Water cooler cups

Instructions

    • 1

      Go outside with a water cooler cup for each person and scoop snow in to them with an ice cream scooper. Fill the cup with scoops of snow.

      Open a Kool-Aid packet and pour it in to your small bowl. This can be any flavor of Kool-Aid that you want.

      Add 1 cup of water to the mixing bowl and combine.

      Add 1 1/2 cups of sugar to the mixing bowl and stir until the sugar is as dissolved as you can get it.

      Spoon the syrup over each of the snow cones and begin eating.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make more than one flavor of Kool-Aid and then pour half on each side of the snow cone. Use a root beer instead of a syrup.

  • Eat the snow cone before it melts.
