To receive a Texas drivers license renewal by mail, you'll need to visit the Texas Department of Public Safety website. It will only take around 15 to 20 days to receive your new drivers license.

      Visit the Texas Department of Public Safety Drivers License Division website (see Resources). Click on the link to "Renew Drivers License". Have your current drivers license, a major credit card and social security number handy and click on the "Continue" button.

      Fill in your drivers license number, your date of birth, the last 4 digits of your social security number and the DPS audit number (located on the side of your photo). Press "Continue".

      The next screen will ask if you would like to change your address or renew your license. Select the renew option and affirm your ability to safely drive a vehicle. Press "Continue".

      The next screen will ask if you are a U.S. citizen, would like to register to vote or change your address. Click on the button to update your address, if necessary, or to move to the next screen.

      The next screen will ask for your credit card information. Your renewed license should show up in the mail within 15 to 20 days. You can print a temporary drivers permit that is valid for 45 days.
