Cuff bracelets are a fashionable jewelry item that you can make yourself. Bead cuff bracelets are attractive and the design possibilities are endless. Look for beads with large holes to make it easier to pass a needle through them. These bracelets are simple enough to make so that you can create one to go with every outfit or any mood. They are simple enough for everyday wear but classy enough for dressing up too.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut a 9 by 2 1/2-inch rectangle from your fabric. On each long side, fold a 1/4-inch seam. Sew closed on your sewing machine.

  2. Step 2

Fold down a 1/4-inch seam on each of the short sides. Cut four pieces of ribbon, each 3 inches long, and pin to each corner on the short side of the fabric. Sew the seams down, making sure to sew over the ribbon.

  3. Step 3

Decide on a design for your beading. You can cover the whole cuff in beads or make a design. If making a design, mark it out on the fabric with a fabric pencil. Thread your needle and tie a knot on the end of the thread. If covering all the fabric with beading, begin in one corner and work up and down in vertical lines. Otherwise, follow the lines of the design you drew.

  4. Step 4

Pass the needle up through the fabric, keeping the knot on the back of the fabric. Place a bead on the the needle and thread. Pass it back down through the fabric. This will secure the bead to the fabric. Continue sewing and adding beads until the bracelet is covered.

  5. Step 5

When you are done, tie the thread off on the back of the bracelet and trim the thread. Tie the bracelet around your wrist by tying the ribbons together.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use beads with large holes to make it easier. Cut a 12-inch length of ribbon and sew your beads to this, tying around your wrist to wear.
