How to Install T1 Internet
The "T" in T1 refers to T-carrier, or the type of data carrying transmission that was initially developed by Bell Labs. The T1 speed refers to any data signal that transmits at 1.544 Mbit/s. The only locations currently using the T-carrier connection are North America, Japan and Korea. Because getting this connection into a private residence is a complicated procedure, the price of a T1 varies from at least $500 or more per month. You will need special equipment to properly install it in your home.
Things You'll Need
- Crimping tool
- Wiring for outside to inside
- Networking cable
- Cable ends (male and female)
- T-Carrier contact
Instructions
-
-
1
Contact a T-Carrier service representative to check rates and to pay them to start the installation process.
-
2
The T-Carrier service will set up the wiring that will connect their signal to your home. The T-Carrier service will fully connect all the necessary wires to install T1 service, or you can install the final parts of the wiring yourself. The service will leave wires that you will have to turn into a "female end," to which you will connect a patch cable (or "male end").

3
Set up the female end of your wiring by using the T568B wiring scheme, lining up the wires in this order: white/orange, orange, white/green, blue, white/blue, green, white/brown, and brown. Use the crimping tool to lock down the female end of the wiring.
-
4
Make a patch cable with network cable and use the T568B wiring scheme, creating male ends on both ends of the cable.
-
5
Plug one end into the recently created female end of the T1 connection and the other end into your computer's Ethernet port.
-
6
Test the service by turning on your computer. Make sure you have a proper connection to the Internet.
