Instructions

    • 1

Drain the pool completely and clean it thoroughly. Allow the pool walls and floor to dry before beginning.

    • 2

Paint the entire pool surface with pool paint primer according to the manufacturer's instructions (see Resources for pool paint and supplies). Allow the primer to dry completely.

    • 3

Paint the entire pool surface with the base color using pool paint and a roller. Allow this layer of paint to dry thoroughly as well.

    • 4

Decide where you want your mural and transfer the mural design onto the pool surface by drawing it onto the sides and/or bottom of the pool with a marker, enlarging the design as necessary. It is a good idea to mark what color each section is supposed to be.

    • 5

Use paintbrushes and pool paints in various colors to paint the mural. Allow the mural to dry completely.

    • 6

Cover the mural with an appropriate finish following the manufacturer's directions for use and drying times.

    • 7

      Refill your pool.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always follow all of the manufacturer's directions even if they differ from these instructions. Be sure to cover the pool in case of inclement weather while you are painting.
