Instructions

    • 1

Decide how many people, and who, you want to invite to your graduation announcement party. Keep in mind that it is common courtesy to send invitations to all family members and friends, even if they do not live near you. Although these people may not be able to make it to the party, they will probably want to send you a card or gift.

    • 2

Use a computer program to design your own, or buy blank announcements from a store in your area. Usually there are multiple designs, colors and styles. Pick the one that best fits you and your personality. Make sure it has a graduation theme. If there are RSVP cards with them, it is smart to purchase these as well so it makes it easier for you to know who is coming to the ceremony, and who is not.

    • 3

Create the graduation invitations. Vital information that must be on the announcement includes your name; the school you are graduating from; the degree you are earning; and the date, time and place of the ceremony. Use a fancy font script, and make your name larger than the other information. Mess around on the computer with the designing software until you find an invitation you like. Make sure it is the correct size as the paper you purchased, and add graduation pictures or graphics to enhance it.

    • 4

Address the envelopes. You can do this by inserting address labels into your printer and printing off the names and addresses in script that matches the invitations, or you can hand write them. Printing them on a computer gives it a more prestigious and professional appearance. Just make sure you line up the envelope correctly with the printer. Place a stamp and address label on each envelope.

    • 5

Print the graduation invitations. Try a test one first to make sure the margins and borders are correct, and that you like the colors and the way it looks. You can purchase bulk paper at office stores, as well as ink, in order to print the invitations yourself. Add little stickers, or even a little tassel, to the invitation to give it some personality.

    • 6

Fold the invitations evenly, and insert them into the envelopes. Add an RSVP card. Seal the envelopes, and place a seal on the outside. Seals are not necessary, but they provide some class. Plus, they are inexpensive. You can choose from various seals at an office or crafts store, and you can most likely find one that matches a graduation theme.

    • 7

Mail the graduation invitations out at least 3 months in advance of the graduation in order to give relatives and friends plenty of time to plan for it or around it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Purchase enough stamps, envelopes, seals and address labels before you start your work.
