- Allen wrench
- Pry bar

- Tub fixtures

Step 1
Remove the existing tub. Your current tub is probably sandwiched firmly between three walls. Turn off your water before you begin the work. Remove the handles and spout using an Allen wrench. After you have taken these off, you can use a pry bar to pull the old tub up from the floor and remove it.

If you are planning to re-tile the surrounding walls, this is a good opportunity to remove the existing tile without the new tub beneath you, catching all the debris. Depending on the measurements of your new tub, you might also need to remove some of the flooring to make room for it. After you have cleared the space, sweep up any debris present on the floor around the area where you will be installing the new tub.

Step 3
Bring the new tub in and place it in the prepared area. Next, connect the drain and water supply pipes. Tighten the slip nuts on the connecting pipes. Coat the drain in plumber's putty, and then press it into place.

After the tub is in place, make sure that the tub is level. Do not place your level on the floor of the tub because this area is often designed with a downward slope. Instead, set your level on the outer rim of the tub and adjust it as necessary until the tub is level.

Install any new tiling needed on the walls or floor around the tub. After you have installed the tile, seal the tub with caulk around the edge where it meets the floor and the walls. Check the manufacturer's guidelines on the caulk for an estimate as to how long it will need to dry.

Reattach the handles and spout to the tub. Clean up any residual caulk or dust, and enjoy your new bathtub.
