Attach a Fishing Bobber

A bobber is a round object that attaches to fishing line to help an angler determine when they have a bite. These are especially helpful tools for people who have very little fishing experience and may not know how to feel the slight tug of a fishing biting and pulling their line. Bobbers are usually very inexpensive, but they can be sort of tricky to put on for a first-time fisherman.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide how deep you want your fishing line to drop in the water. Some individuals like to try and catch catfish and other larger types of fish that are several feet below the surface of the water. If you want the bait you are using to be a certain depth in the water you will need to set the bobber the same amount up from the bait.
For example, if you want your bait to be 6 feet deep in the water, you will need your bobber to be at least 6 feet up the line from the bait.

    • 2

Press and hold the round button on the top of the bobber. After you press the plastic button a small metal hook will pop out of the bottom of the bobber.

    • 3

Thread your fishing line through the hook. Release the round button and the hook will go back into the bobber, holding the fishing line in place.

    • 4

Put a finger over the bottom of the bobber where you just threaded the line. This helps hold the line in place as you thread the fishing line through the top of the bobber.

    • 5

Press down on the outside edge of the round plastic button on top of the bobber. There should be a second hook sticking up from the plastic button.

    • 6

Thread the fishing line through this hook and release the button.
