Talk to Girls at School

We all know that school is supposed to be a place of learning and progressive education, but what most people also realize is that school is a great place to develop your social skills too. School can often be a mixing pot, where culture and gender mesh together in a stew, creating the perfect opportunity to meet new people. Talking to girls at school may not be part of the teacher-assigned curriculum, but it is definitely not an opportunity you should pass on.

Instructions

    • 1

Pass her a note. Although this is a slightly childish way to grab a girl's attention, it is a classic nonetheless. Passing a short letter stating your wishes to take her out on a date with a check box for yes and no will be funny and refreshing. Make sure that when you pass the note, however, that you do it either during a lull in class or when you are reviewing information you have already gone over.

Wait for a break. Talking to girls at school can be as simple as waiting for an open opportunity. Lunch and other breaks can provide a perfect prelude to a real date, as well as give you a small period of time to get to know girls better. Approach with confidence, but try not to come off cocky at the same time, as this will be a major turnoff.

Ask to be their partner on a school-related project. We have all seen the movies and television shows in which a loner-type guy gets a girl to be his partner on a school project, and soon a new relationship has blossomed. In this case, you can be the guy who gets the girl through a little ingenious finagling. During the next school project, volunteer to be partners with her and gauge her reaction closely to see if she is repulsed or enthused.

Find some common ground. When you do get the chance to talk to this girl, focus on what you have in common. One of the first things you might do is talk about school itself and why you like or dislike certain classes. This works especially well in college when the girl has picked the class you are in together or in high school when it is a chosen elective course. Either way, making it seem as if you are best friends from day one will allow her to let down her inhibitions and open up and talk to you.

Stray from approaching larger groups. Approaching large groups of girls on your own can be brutal; if you don't know this by now, then you are fortunate to not have experienced it! When girls are with their friends at school, they have the confidence to say things they normally wouldn't, which includes especially harsh rejections. At times it may not even be the girl you are focusing on but her friend who does the rejecting for her. These instances can be avoided, however, by either steering clear of large groups of girls in the first place or befriending the friends of the girl you're interested in first.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bringing a small gift for a girl you would like to talk to is a great icebreaker and works especially well if her friends are with her.

  • Avoid having a passed note confiscated by the teacher or writing anything in a note you wouldn't want the entire class to hear, because if the teacher gets the note, he just might read it out loud.
