How to Make Mailing Labels

Using your home computer and printer, you can easily create labels for business or personal use.       Purchase blank mailing labels from an office supply store.

      In Microsoft Word, open a new Word document. Go to "Labels" under the "Tools" drop-down menu. A new window will open.

      Type in the address that you want to appear on the label. Choose "Full page of same label" or "Single label." If you are selecting "Full page of same label," select the number of rows and columns that correspond the blank label sheet. For example, if the sheet contains 7 rows and 9 columns, enter these numbers to print the address on the entire label sheet.

      Select the label size if you're using larger labels. Click "Options" to select label size. Select the manufacturer of the labels. If the manufacturer is not included in the list, enter in the dimensions of the labels so that the information printed will be spaced correctly on the label. Click "OK" when finished.

      Place the blank sheet of labels into the printer tray. Click "Print" when ready.

      Remove the labels from the printer.

Tips & Warnings

  • To print different addresses on one sheet, create an address list using Microsoft Excel. Click "Select Recipients" to select addresses from the list. Follow the prompts provided to complete your labels.
