Some MP3 players are capable of playing video music files, as well as digital music files. A user can upload video music files through software that is compatible with various MP3 players that are on the market. The most popular MP3 player currently is the Apple iPod. Another type of MP3 player would be the Zune from Microsoft. Both of these MP3 players come with their own software programs to upload video files. The Apple iPod uses iTunes exclusively and the Zune uses Microsoft Media Player. Each unit supports different video formats which may require extra work before music video files can be uploaded.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide what music video files are going to be transferred to each MP3 player. Music video files that are in AVI or MPG format will need to be converted before they can be played on the Zune. Most types of AVI and MPG files should play just fine on an iPod.

  2. Step 2

Use Windows Media Encoder to convert videos in the AVI and MPG format to a file type that is supported by the Zune. The standard file type that is used with the Zune is in the WMV format.

  3. Step 3

Sort the video files that are going to be transferred. Create a folder for each MP3 player on the computer and place the selected files in each one.

  4. Step 4

Connect the MP3 player to the computer using the provided interface cable. The interface cable for the ipod and Zune both use a USB connection.

  5. Step 5

Open the iTunes software or Microsoft Media Player for the specific MP3 player that is being used. Music video files to be transferred need to be in the Movie Library in both iTunes and Microsoft Media Player.

  6. Step 6

Select the folder on the hard drive or a removable storage device from within the software to import the video files. Once the files have been imported into the Movie Library they are ready to be transferred.

  7. Step 7

Use the Sync option in both programs to transfer the movies files to the MP3 player. Once the process is complete the movies can now be watched on each MP3 player.

Tips & Warnings
  • A separate file converter may need to be used before video files can be transferred.
  • Not all video formats may be supported in either the iPod or the Zune.
