How to Design a High School Class Ring

To help commemorate 4 (or possibly more or less) years of your life and the end of your high school education, you may want to get a high school class ring. The easiest way to design the ring is through the website of the jeweler that makes rings for your school, but there will be some decisions you need to make along the way.

Things You'll Need

  • Name of your high school
  • Credit or debit card (for payment processing)

Instructions

    • 1

Find out if your high school has a preferred ring provider. Not all companies do all schools, so you want to know if you're limited before you begin. See Resources for a list of jewelers.

    • 2

Determine your price range. You can generally get inexpensive rings for $200 or less, but if you prefer gold and precious or semiprecious stones, you can spend well over $1,000.

    • 3

Figure out your ring size. You can find ring sizers online that can be printed on paper and then wrapped around your finger, or you can find a sizer that allows you to hold up a ring that currently fits you to a sizing chart and match it to the correct size.

    • 4

Decide on a style and a type of metal. Do you want gold, white gold, platinum, silver or a stainless material? Do you want a satin or antiqued finish?

    • 5

Pick a stone color. You may not be able to have a real ruby, but you can have a red stone in your ring.

    • 6

Personalize the ring. You can add symbols from the ring company's catalog or website that fits your high school activities, accomplishments or interests on the sides and have your initials engraved on the inside.

    • 7

Place your order. Most high school ring companies will have a ring to you within 4 to 6 weeks.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want to have your ring for graduation, make sure to order with at least 2 to 3 months lead time, just in case there is a problem.

  • Read the jeweler's policies on sizing and returns carefully. It can be easy to missize a ring, and you don't want to get stuck with a ring you can't wear.
