Bleach was used as an alternative means of sanitation for decades before dishwashers were common features in houses.   • 1 tbsp. chlorine bleach
  • 1 gallon water
  • Latex gloves
  • 2-gallon bucket

      Pour 1 gallon of hot water into a 2-gallon bucket and add 1 tbsp. of bleach, taking care not to splash any bleach on your clothing or skin.

      Wash each dish in hot sudsy water and rinse under running clear water (or dip in a sink full of clean water if no running water is available).

      Dip the rinsed dish into the bucket of bleach solution and then hold it above the bucket for a moment to allow excess bleach water to drain off.
