Instructions

  1. Grout Wall Tiles

    • 1

Mix the grout compound and water, according to the manufacturer's directions, and let it set up. While it's setting, place tarps or covers over the floor or countertops where you will be working, because some grout is going to drop.

    • 2

Using a grout float, place some grout on the end of the float and push into the joint. Move the float across the tiles to push in the grout. Make sure you fill the joints completely. Work a 3-by-3 foot section.

    • 3

Fill the bucket with warm clean water. Using a large tiling sponge, wipe the tile that you just grouted. Press evenly and remove any excess grout. This will slightly recess your grout and allow you to see any holes or areas that don't have grout in them. If there are any, repeat the process right away until the joints are filled. Wipe again.

    • 4

Move on to the next section and repeat the entire process. Keep going until the entire wall is grouted. If at some point you run out of grout, finish wiping the area you are working on before you go make more.

    • 5

Allow the grout to dry overnight and apply a few coats of grout sealer the next day. Grout sealer can be sprayed on out of a can or it comes in a liquid that you wipe on with a sponge. The spray sealer works great for walls. Allow an hour or two between coats.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are new to grouting, only mix enough grout to do a few sections at first. If you don't work fast enough, the grout will dry out. It's easier just to make more when you need it.
