How to Replace a Toyota Camry Cabin Air Filter
Cabin air filters first appeared on the Toyota Camry in 2002. This feature, once only available on luxury cars, is now fairly standard on new vehicles. When working properly and allowing a free flow of air, a cabin air filter can reduce allergens in the passenger compartment and provide an overall cleaner environment. But when they're clogged, air cabin filters can reduce air flow through your vents and defrosters.

Open the glove compartment and remove the contents.

Look on the ceiling of the glove compartment interior, and find two screws. Remove these screws with a screwdriver and lower the glove compartment assembly. It is attached to the dashboard in the back with a hinge, so it will just drop down.

Open the rectangular plastic case, and slide the air filter out of the retainer clips.

Slide the new air filter into place. Replace the lid on the plastic case.

Lift the glove compartment up and screw the screws back into place. Replace the contents of the glove compartment and close the hatch.

Yahhhhhhh! Anytime you have to remove a screw in a car, look for alternatives--they just don't go back like they came out. In this case, removing screws is NOT necessary in the 2009 Camry. Pull the lift arm off the peg on the lower right side of the open glove box. There is a peg on each side of the glove box that enter the side of the compartment and keep the box from falling forward. This will take a little effort, but pry each side out and you can pull the box forward...the pegs only go into the side about 1/4 inch. The filter compartment is at the back top left of the compartment---remove the cover and replace the filter and replace the cover. Now just push the glove box back into place--those pegs will just snap into their slots. Don't forget to fasten the lift arm.

You have no screws to remove in the 2008 Toyota Camry C. Clear the glove compartment, unhook the damper from the right side of the glove compartment ans squeeze the sides of the compartment in to free the side hooks. The glove compartment will hang down, giving you access to the filter compartment door.
