If a puzzle has a phrase in it--and you can identify what the phrase says--it can help you complete the puzzle. There are several ways to identify the sayings in your picture puzzle.

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Puzzle box
  1. Step 1

Look at the box that the picture puzzle came in. The box may show you exactly what the saying is if it features a picture of the completed puzzle. If the box shows the picture and not the phrase, you may be able to use the picture as a clue. For instance, if the puzzle is a picture of a Christmas tree, the saying may be something like Merry Christmas or Seasons Greetings. Write down any ideas you have on a piece of paper so you can keep them in mind as you construct the puzzle.

  2. Step 2

As you connect the pieces of your picture puzzle, try and determine what the picture will be. Use this information to try and figure out possible sayings. Write down what you think the saying may be so you will have some ideas about what to look for. Write down the random letters that you see on the puzzle pieces so you know what you have to work.

  3. Step 3

Look at the letter pieces as you start to fit them into your picture puzzle to try and determine the saying. For instance, if you know one part of the saying because the pieces already fit into the puzzle, you can use it to help you determine the rest of the saying. Write down any words that you can identify and brainstorm to see if you can fit them into a saying that goes along with your picture.
