How to Get Rid of Trojan Win 32 Virus

The Win32 Trojan virus is considered both a Trojan horse and a worm. One of the differences between the Win32 Trojan and others is that the worm properties of the virus (the virus attempts to self-replicate and spread to other computers) slow your computer down to an almost unusable speed. The manner of infection of your computer is similar to other viruses, in that the Win32 Trojan attempts to trick you into downloading or executing the virus disguised as a useful piece of media or an email attachment. Once your computer is infected, you will begin to notice your computer applications running significantly slower than before.

Instructions

    • 1

Restart your computer in "Safe Mode with Networking" by depressing the "F8" key numerous times during the reboot process. Select the "Safe Mode with Networking" menu option when it appears on your computer screen. Note that if your infection is bad enough, your computer may be unresponsive when depressing "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" to reboot the computer, and you may need to remove the power cord to reset the computer.

    • 2

Disable your computer's system restore feature by right clicking your "My Computer" icon and on the next menu that appears, choose the "System Restore" tab and click the check box that is next to "Turn Off System Restore." This will prevent any backed-up copies of the Win32 Trojan from reinfecting your computer.

    • 3

Manually search your hard drive for the "explorer32dbg.exe" and "iexplore_dbg.exe" files and delete any copies that are found. You can search your hard drive by right clicking your "My Computer" icon, choosing the "Search" menu and keying in each of the file names for separate searches.

    • 4

Update your anti-virus definitions and perform a complete scan of your computer's drives.

    • 5

Choose the "Clean Infected Files" if any infected files are returned by the anti-virus software.

    • 6

Continue rescanning your computer and cleaning infected files until there is one complete scan that shows no files are infected.
