Instructions

  1. Construct A Quarter-Pipe Frame

    • 1

Cut an "L" shape out of cardboard with a curve on the inside edge. Follow the image to see what your shape should look like. Once you are happy with your shape, trace it twice onto cardboard and cut out the other two identical shapes. These three shapes will form the base of your quarter-pipe frame, which will make up one side of your halfpipe. The size depends on how large you want the halfpipe to be.

    • 2

Cut another rectangular strip out of the cardboard to make the base of your quarter-pipe frame.

    • 3

Glue the three "L" shapes onto the cardboard base. The image indicates which end of the "L" shapes should be on the bottom when attached to the base.

Cut a rectangle out of construction paper and attach it to the curved side of the frame so that your ramp resembles the image.

    • 5

Cut out a final piece of cardboard and glue it to the top of the frame. This will act as the platform.

    Add Coping

    • 6

Cut a strip of the metal coat hanger with wire cutters to fit on top of the quarter pipe. This strip will be the coping.

    • 7

Glue the strip of metal onto the top of the quarter pipe where the coping on a traditional quarter pipe would be.

    • 8

Wipe any excess glue off the coping to prevent stickiness. This is important; it will be hard to grind on the coping if there is dried glue on it.

Construct the Other Half of the Half-Pipe

    • 9

Set the completed quarter pipe aside to dry. Then build a second, identical quarter pipe using the same method.

    • 10

Connect the two quarter pipes at the base with tape.

    • 11

Decorate the outside of the halfpipe's frame with construction paper if desired.
