Find a Quiet Spot to Work
-
1
Find a quiet place to work. It is difficult speak to someone on the phone and be able to hear when others are talking in the background. Find a room in the back of the office where there will be no one chatting or coming and going from the room.
-
2
Sit down at a table or desk with a phone and look through the directory to decide which audience you would like to target. You should call those whom you know will be likely to be interested in your product. You will be wasting your time if you call people or businesses who have no use for what you are selling.

Use a script when speaking to a potential customer. You will be less likely to fumble for words and you will be able to get straight to the point. People are busy and generally will not give you more than a few minutes of their time. Speak up and speak clearly so that they will be able to hear what you are saying.
-
4
Keep track of the names and phone numbers that you contacted. Write down any comments or interest shown by the prospect. Be sure to follow up by calling back when you say you will. This shows that you are trustworthy and reliable, which will make people want to do business with you.
